Week 3: Presentations

  Presentations: Presenting your teaching material in an engaging manner is integral for student engagement. PowerPoint is usually the go to for all educators as it is designed to create clean, impactful slideshow presentations . This however, can start to become disengaging for students as some PowerPoints are filled with words or are not created in a way to keep discussion flowing in the classroom.  Prezi is another presenting platform that allows educators or students to try a different way in presenting their next lesson or presentation in front of the class. Below are some screenshots of setting Prezi up. Creating an account is easy and free to do. However, there is a 13 year old age limit to use Prezi. This would mean grade seven students would mostly likely not be able to use this platform. Digital Media Digital Media , specifically within education refers to the idea of using interactive and multiple types of media. This means that a classroom will incorporate different software, devices and platforms all to be used as tool for learning.  Technical Aspects of Different Web-Spaces     As someone who enjoys both writing and typing my notes and can create a nifty PowerPoint  I am definitely an intermediate level with technology and by no means an expert. However, with the digital pedagogies class, I am able to start understanding the importance of integrating a digital classroom. 

Effective Teaching and Learning: low order and high order thinking

Teaching Area: History Classroom Activity with low order thinking: Remember, Understand, and Apply    World War II: When was it, what were the different side  Classroom Activity with high order thinking: Create, Evaluate, Analyse  World War II: creating different maps and highlighting the different phases of Europe as different countries were invaded.  Classroom Activity that shows a low order ICT use: Substitution & Augmentation  watch a documentary and create a PowerPoint summarising the documentary  Classroom Activity that shows higher order ICT use: Modification & Redefinition  use greenscreen app and act out a historical event
